Chino Yang's on Clement Street is closing its doors on July 28, making way for Georgian Cheese Boat's second location in the Richmond District.
Chino Yang's, the Hunan and Mandarin cuisine spot at 1820 Clement Street, is set to close its doors on July 28. The space will soon welcome a second location for Georgian Cheese Boat, the popular North Beach eatery. Owner Chino Yang, also known as Xiao Chuan, stated that while the decision to close was already underway since January, an alleged physical assault in March "propelled" the final decision to cease operations, citing concerns for his safety.
The outgoing Chino Yang's has been a fixture on Clement Street, though its precise legal operating entity and specific opening date remain unconfirmed by available public records. However, city records from 2015 indicate operations at the 1820 Clement Street address. The space is being taken over by Shalva Dzotsenidze, chef and owner of Georgian Cheese Boat. The new Richmond District outpost aims to open within months of Chino Yang's July closure, bringing its signature "gooey cheese pies with egg" to the Inner Richmond corridor.
The original Georgian Cheese Boat, operated by Cheeseboat, LLC, opened its doors on January 23, 2023, at 1224 Grant Ave in North Beach. Details regarding the new Clement Street location's exact opening date, seat count, and price point are not yet set.
