The newly opened Golden Focaccia at 881 Post St. has already reworked its menu — dropping focaccia pizza al taglio for six kinds of pinsa romana — after its founding baker left the project.

Golden Focaccia, an Italian counter that opened in mid-June at 881 Post St. at Hyde in Lower Nob Hill, has already changed its menu and lost its founding baker, according to the SF food newsletter tablehopper.

Baker Marco Scabin has left the project, tablehopper reported. Owner Omar Barkache — who runs the shop with his wife and family — has since dropped the focaccia pizza al taglio that anchored the early menu and replaced it with pinsa romana, the airy, oblong Roman flatbread, now offered in six varieties. The focaccia panino stays on the board.

The room is registered with the City as Golden Focaccia LLC at 881 Post St., with a business start date of March 9, 2026, per DataSF records. It is a low-price-point spot, and keeps counter hours of 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, until 8:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, according to tablehopper.

The quick pivot — a menu reworked and a baker gone within weeks of opening — is the kind of early turbulence that rarely makes the listings but tells you how a new room is actually finding its footing. Golden Focaccia joins a small cluster of food businesses that have opened along the Post Street corridor this year.
