Plank, the dining-and-games complex on Oakland's Jack London Square waterfront, closed permanently on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2026, ending a nearly 12-year run The Oaklandside first reported would end mid-summer.

The Oaklandside first reported the shutdown on June 5, when food writer Momo Chang noted in the outlet's running list of closures that Plank had announced a permanent, mid-summer closure. The complex opened around 2014.

Plank was never just a restaurant. Across its Embarcadero West footprint it stacked bowling lanes, an arcade, bocce and lawn games, a beer garden, a sports bar and a full-service kitchen — an all-under-one-roof entertainment bet on a waterfront corridor that lives and dies by foot traffic and events. As recently as August 2025, the operators were still investing in the room, celebrating a renovation and opening a new watch bar called The Hub.

The reason for the closure has not been publicly disclosed, and the operators have not said what, if anything, will take the space.
