Lake Merritt draws huge unorganized crowds every June 19 — people set up speakers, fire up grills, and take over the walking path — and the city's logistics are a crowd-management response to that tradition, not an announcement of a ticketed event. Road closures: Lakeshore Avenue, Grand Avenue, MacArthur Boulevard (lake-area portions), and all of El Embarcadero close at 6 a.m. Cross streets off Lakeshore — Beacon, Boden Way, Brooklyn Ave, Wayne Ave, Hanover Ave — are also blocked.
