SF Pride's 56th annual parade and celebration lands June 27–28 with 500,000 expected attendees. BART opens early Sunday, runs trains every five minutes, and has four stops along the parade route — here's how to use every transit option without getting stuck in gridlock.
SF Pride returns this Saturday and Sunday, June 27–28, at Civic Center Plaza and along Market Street, with an expected 500,000 people descending on downtown San Francisco for the 56th annual parade and celebration. The theme: "Resistance in Action." The logistics: leave the car at home.
The parade steps off Sunday, June 28, at 10:30 a.m. from Embarcadero Plaza, runs 1.6 miles down Market Street, and finishes at City Hall. The celebration runs both days at Civic Center Plaza; admission is free.
BART is your cleanest option. On Sunday, BART opens early at 8 a.m. and runs five-line service with trains every five minutes at downtown stations. Four stations sit directly along the parade route: Embarcadero, Montgomery, Powell, and Civic Center. Civic Center/UN Plaza station drops you one block from the Civic Center Plaza celebration — the best stop if the fair is your goal. Special event trains run between Millbrae and downtown SF, and from Pleasant Hill, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., then restart at 2 p.m. After 9 p.m., service drops to three lines — know your exit window.
Muni buses reroute from Market Street to Mission Street during the parade. Muni Metro light rail keeps running with stops at all four downtown stations. The F-Market historic streetcar runs along the parade route itself if you want to move through the crowd. Key bus routes in the area: 5, 6, 7, 9, 19, 21, 47, 49. Clipper Card or MuniMobile cuts the boarding line.
From the Peninsula or South Bay: Caltrain runs half-hourly from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Disembark at 4th & King and transfer to Muni Metro inbound.
From the East Bay or North Bay: SF Bay Ferry adds extra morning service Sunday from Vallejo, Oakland, and Alameda alongside regular weekend runs. Riders from Richmond, Alameda, and Oakland get free parking at ferry-affiliated garages. Golden Gate Ferry's 9 a.m. Larkspur departure goes directly to the SF Ferry Terminal — the right move if you want to be in position before the parade starts. AC Transit runs regular transbay service into Salesforce Transit Center.
Do not drive. Market Street from Embarcadero to Civic Center is closed Sunday. Parking near Civic Center will be essentially nonexistent, and rideshare drop-offs will be stacked for blocks.
If you've got two hours Sunday: Take BART to Embarcadero before 10 a.m., watch the parade step off, walk the route toward City Hall, and end at the Civic Center Plaza celebration. That's the whole experience, no car needed.
