Super Duper Burgers has opened at 1701 Fillmore St at Post, in a former Burger King space. It's the latest Bay Area location for Adriano Paganini's Back of the House group, registered as 1701 Fillmore Street, LLC.

Super Duper Burgers opened July 14 at 1701 Fillmore St, on the corner of Post, in a space that had housed one of the city's gloomier Burger Kings until that chain went dark. The new room sits catty-corner from the AMC Kabuki and across from Copra, on the Japantown edge of Lower Pacific Heights — a corridor with steady foot traffic from the theater and the mall.

The location is registered with the City as 1701 Fillmore Street, LLC, doing business as Super Duper, at the 94115 address. It's operated by Back of the House, the restaurant group Adriano Paganini has built into a local empire of more than two dozen rooms. When SFist first reported the deal in February — sourced to a Back of the House representative via KRON4 — the company counted the Fillmore space as its ninth in San Francisco and 21st overall; tablehopper now tallies it as the 23rd Bay Area location, a measure of how fast the group has kept expanding through the year.

Super Duper runs on the fast-food-with-slow-food-values pitch it has used since it opened its first counter in the Castro in 2010: burgers built on never-frozen Brandt Beef and organic soft-serve shakes from Straus Family Creamery, at a fast-casual price point. Hours run Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday until midnight, and Sunday to 11 p.m.

The bet here is a familiar one for a chain this size: take a proven high-visibility corner, inherit a built-out quick-service kitchen from a departed national brand, and swap in a local name with better sourcing. A vacated Burger King becoming a Super Duper is the kind of quiet, one-room turnover that keeps a busy corner busy — and it's the 23rd time Paganini's group has run the same play across the Bay.
