The same operators who ran the Argentinian steakhouse Flora King at 4248 18th Street flipped the room into a counter-service smashburger spot in under two years.

The operators who spent the last two years running an Argentinian steakhouse at 4248 18th Street have decided the Castro would rather eat a $13 burger. Flora King served its last dinner June 28, according to The Bold Italic; by early July the room reopened as Iggy's Burger, a counter-service smashburger spot from the same team. Hoodline dated the pivot to July 3.

The counter comes from Ignacio "Iggy" Garat, who opened the original Iggy's in Healdsburg in 2023, and Angela Pryor Garat, co-founder of Angela's Organic Ice Cream and Flora King's prior operator. "As times change, we have listened to what many people are looking for today: a welcoming, affordable place to gather any day of the week," the Garats said in a statement to Hoodline, "featuring grass-fed smash burgers, a full bar, and Angela's Ice Cream shakes."

The menu runs grass-fed smashburgers at roughly $13 — house "Million Island" sauce, pickled onions and Clover cheddar on Hawaiian-style buns — alongside thick-cut fries and onion rings fried in beef tallow, a fried chicken sandwich, and milkshakes spun from Angela's Organic Ice Cream, per The Bold Italic. The Infatuation, which added the room to its New Openings list August 5, counts five dipping sauces and "tons of seating" at the counter. A full liquor license was pending ABC approval as of early July, with beer and wine reported active; hours run noon to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, to 10:30 on weekends, closed Mondays, per the restaurant's Yelp listing.

The turnaround was fast. City records show Flora King LLC registered at the 18th Street address on October 1, 2024 — meaning the full-service steakhouse lasted under two years before the same team flipped it to a sub-$20 burger counter. That's the operators betting this stretch of 18th Street wants something cheaper and quicker to walk into than the sit-down room that just closed there. No San Francisco business registration has surfaced yet under the Iggy's Burger name; such filings often lag a soft open by weeks.
