Skip the eclipse-livestream FOMO — the real payoff lands Aug 15-16, from a carb fest in North Beach to two free Stern Grove concerts you can still get into via the day-before box office.

By the time you read this, Wednesday's "eclipse parties" at the California Academy of Sciences and the Exploratorium will be over — and worth knowing that the Aug. 12 total eclipse's path ran over Iceland and Spain, not California, so those were livestream-and-workshop affairs, not a look-up-in-the-sky event. Interpol's Warfield show is tonight. The actual weekend is where the city delivers. Here's what's worth your Saturday and Sunday.

The free move: Dahlia Show. The Dahlia Society of California hangs its annual show at the Hall of Flowers, 1199 9th Ave. in Golden Gate Park — Saturday 10 a.m.–5 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m.–4 p.m., free, all ages. Peak-season blooms the size of dinner plates, judged and labeled. Take the N Judah to 9th & Irving and walk in; parking near the park on a weekend is a fool's errand.

The commit-early move: Pizza, Bagel, and Beer Festival. Tony Gemignani's carb bacchanal runs Saturday noon–4 p.m. at the San Francisco Italian Athletic Club, 1630 Stockton St., North Beach, spilling toward Washington Square. Read the tiers before you buy: general admission is $90 (21-and-up) and gets you pizza and bagel tastings plus four beer tickets — not a bottomless tap. If unlimited pours are the point for you, that's the $275 VIP tier (early entry, private lounge). There are cheaper kids' tiers; under 5 free. Note: it's sold out in past years, so don't wait — and four beer tickets across four hours is a pace, not a sprint.

The Bayview move: SCRAP grand opening. SCRAP — the 50-year-old creative-reuse depot with roots in the late Ruth Asawa's orbit — opens its first permanent home Saturday at 141 Industrial St., free. SCRAP lists 10 a.m.–6 p.m. shop hours; it hasn't detailed a formal ceremony, so treat it as a browse-the-new-space day, not a ribbon-cutting.

The East Bay move: Oakland Pride. Sunday, the parade steps off at 10:30 a.m. and the festival runs noon–6 p.m. at Frank H. Ogawa Plaza — right on top of 12th St. BART, so leave the car in SF. Parade's free; festival GA is $20 (first hour free, 12 and under free).

The insider move: Stern Grove. Here's the one people miss. Saturday brings Public Enemy, Sunday Al Green — both free, both "gone" if you only checked the lottery. Stern Grove holds back roughly 1,500 tickets per show (about 15% of capacity) at a first-come Community Box Office the day before or day of, two per person. Doors noon, music 2 p.m., 19th Ave. & Sloat. Watch sterngrove.org for the box-office time and location, show up early, and you're in.

If you've only got two hours: the Dahlia Show plus a walk through the park is the no-money, no-planning win. If you're willing to work for it, chase a Stern Grove ticket for Al Green.
