Line 51, the Oakland brewery and taproom at 303 Castro St. near Jack London Square, poured its last pint July 19, timing its final service to the World Cup final. The company launched in 2013 and had occupied the current space since 2020, according to Nosh, the East Bay food vertical of The Oaklandside, which compiled the month's closures in an Aug. 10 roundup by Momo Chang. "We love you Oakland!" read the taproom's farewell post.

It was one of several East Bay rooms to go dark in late July. Match Point Brewing, the Albany taproom at 745 San Pablo Ave. next to 310 Eatery, closed after service July 26 — two years after opening in 2024 — when it couldn't reach a new sublease agreement, co-owner Simon Chen told Nosh. Match Point's beers will still be sold at retailers including Berkeley Bowl. Ace Seafood, at 5000 Telegraph Ave. in Oakland, has been dark since a July 17 visit found the shades drawn, its Instagram down and its Resy listing gone; the operators who rebranded the former Small Change early in 2026 have not returned messages, per Nosh.

Two pop-ups also paused. Pour Manners Izakaya announced an indefinite shutdown July 24 to "recalibrate the business." Kathiew House, the weekend Cambodian pop-up known for beef noodle soup at the A&R market at 3615 Foothill Blvd., halted after owner Phoeun Pen told KTVU her home was broken into and her son assaulted while she was at work. Nosh's roundup logged additional closures in Berkeley, Alameda and El Sobrante.
