The SF Shakespeare Festival's free, 90-minute "Antony and Cleopatra" tours five Bay Area parks from July 25 through September 27 — no tickets, no RSVP, just show up with a blanket.

The San Francisco Shakespeare Festival's 44th Free Shakespeare in the Park season opens Saturday, July 25, with a 90-minute production of Antony and Cleopatra directed by Katja Rivera. No tickets, no RSVPs, no catch — just show up. The opening run is at Cupertino's Memorial Park Amphitheater, 21163 Anton Way, with performances at 6:00 p.m. on weekends through August 9.

Elizabeth Carter plays Cleopatra, Jeremy Lee Ohta plays Antony. The production carries content warnings for theatricalized battle sounds, depictions of violence, depictions of suicide, threatened self-harm, and misogynoir references. Bring a blanket, lawn chairs, and a picnic — the amphitheater has terraced concrete seating and grassy hillsides.

• Redwood City: Red Morton Park, 1120 Roosevelt Ave — Saturdays and Sundays, Aug 15–30, 6:00 p.m.
• Orinda: Bruns Memorial Amphitheater, 100 Gateway Blvd — Sept 16–17 and Sept 23–24, 4:00 p.m.
• San Francisco (McLaren Park): Jerry Garcia Amphitheater, John F. Shelley Dr — Sat/Sun Sept 5–6, Labor Day Monday Sept 7, then Sept 12–13, all at 2:00 p.m.
• San Francisco (Sue Bierman Park): Drumm St & Washington St — Saturdays and Sundays, Sept 19–27, 2:00 p.m.

Insider tip: Arrive 20–30 minutes early to claim a good patch of grass — spots go fast at all five parks. BART to Embarcadero is a clean shot to Sue Bierman; McLaren is workable on the 9 bus. If you can only make one, the Orinda show (Bruns amphitheater, 4 p.m., September hillside light) is the move — pack accordingly.
