The Milanese-style gelato chain opened at Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto in May, its second Bay Area counter after a February debut at Santana Row in San Jose.

The Palo Alto shop sits at 660 Stanford Shopping Center, Suite 11A, and runs 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. According to the East Bay Times, which reported the opening this week, the team makes its batches on-site each morning starting at 11 a.m. — the name translates from Italian as "kiss of milk." A regular two-flavor waffle cone runs $11.55.

The chain was founded in 2011 by Italian brothers Edoardo and Luigi Tonolli, and — per the East Bay Times — began in Brazil before expanding into Southern California, growing to roughly 200 locations worldwide. Its milk and cream come from Clover Farms in Sonoma County, with hazelnuts from Piedmont and chocolate from Belgium and Italy.

The two Bay Area counters land in the region's two highest-rent open-air retail centers — Stanford Shopping Center and Santana Row — a placement that reads less like a neighborhood gelateria and more like a mall-anchored expansion play. The San Jose location is at 3090 Olsen Drive, Suite 11015.
