The Young Scandinavians Club's annual Black Light Olympics Weekend at its Clear Lake cabin is open to non-members — dock life Saturday, neon team competitions and a glow party Saturday night, $95 per guest through August 13.

The Young Scandinavians Club is hosting its Black Lights Olympics Weekend at its private cabin on Clear Lake, August 28–30 — and it's actively recruiting non-members to fill the roster. Scandinavian heritage not required.

The weekend runs Friday, August 28 at 4:00 p.m. through Sunday, August 30 at 1:00 p.m. PT at 9325 Bass Road, Kelseyville, CA 95451, on the shores of California's largest natural lake. Spend Saturday on the dock — swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, optional boat tubing — then split into country teams for the Black Light Olympics: costumes, face paint, and what the event page calls "sometimes ridiculous" challenges, followed by a neon-and-glow-stick party late into the night. Meals are provided Saturday through Sunday lunch; Friday dinner is not included, so eat on the way up.

Pricing is $95 per guest through August 13, rising to $105 from August 14 onward. Members pay $85/$95 and can each bring up to four guests. Bring a sleeping bag (mats are on site), your own drinks in non-glass containers, and white or neon clothing for the party. RSVP on Partiful; first-timers can DM Lala Flink, the club's VP and event director, with questions, or register at ysc.org/register.

One candid caveat from the club's own 2023 member survey: "The parking is always an issue, but there is not much we can do about it, unfortunately." There is no transit to Kelseyville. Use the Partiful carpool list, park tight, and choose your spot based on when you plan to leave Sunday — latecomers get boxed in.
