The Vallejo rapper and community arts organizer performed "I'm From The Bay" with roughly 50 local singers, dancers, and student musicians on Tuesday night's Season 21 audition — and advanced unanimously.
LaRussell, the Vallejo rapper who runs the Good Compenny arts collective and plays close to 100 shows a year, took the America's Got Talent stage Tuesday night and brought half the Bay with him.
The Season 21, Episode 3 audition aired June 16 at 8 p.m. on NBC. LaRussell performed "I'm From The Bay" — the Lil Jon-produced track that became Bay FC's official anthem in March — backed by roughly 50 Bay Area community performers: singers, dancers, and student musicians of varying ages.
All four judges voted yes. Simon Cowell got the line: "Every one of you popped, but then together you became as one. That's exactly the kind of act I was praying would come on this show."
If you missed it live, the episode is on Peacock. LaRussell told NBC Bay Area he hopes the national platform spotlights local talent — which is consistent with how he's operated since founding Good Compenny: two creative buildings in the Bay Area, 40-plus albums released entirely on his own imprint (masters intact), and The Pergola, a sold-out backyard stage at his Vallejo compound where he regularly platforms local acts.
He comes into the AGT run off a non-exclusive Roc Nation signing in February and a Super Bowl LX pregame spot at Levi's. Watch his show calendar — if the AGT run extends, the local demand will only go up.
