Saga Kitchen, the Pan-Asian food hall on Lincoln Avenue in Alameda, has closed after facing construction impacts and operational challenges.

Saga Kitchen, the Pan-Asian food hall at 1707 Lincoln Ave. in Alameda, has permanently closed, ending a multi-concept operation that offered bento boxes, Japanese sandwiches, dim sum, sushi, and ramen under one roof.

The closure was confirmed by Berkeleyside's Nosh tip line on June 26. Founded by Gilbert Liang, Saga Kitchen operated multiple vendor concepts—WOK CHI, KOHARU, SACHI, and YUE CLUB—from the Lincoln Avenue space. The business had curtailed delivery operations by December 2025, according to Uber Eats records.

The closure coincided with major construction on Lincoln Avenue that nearby merchants reported caused a 25-35% drop in sales due to lost parking and customer traffic. Customer reviews cited service issues and inconsistent food quality in the months leading up to the closure.

The property at 1707 Lincoln Ave. was listed for $1.35 million in April 2025 and marked off-market by April 2026, suggesting ownership changes may have influenced the business's fate. City of Alameda business licenses for Saga Kitchen's various DBAs were last listed expiring June 30, 2023, with no evidence of renewal in public records.
