The free Richmond District night market takes over Clement Street this Saturday with two dozen food vendors, live lion dance and dance performances, and family activities — no ticket required.

Saturday, July 18, 4–8pm — Clement Street between 22nd and 25th Avenues, Richmond District. The “Heart of the Richmond District” night market returns for its third summer, shutting down three blocks of Clement for a free, family-focused block party. Organized by the Community Youth Center of San Francisco (CYC), the event is the July installment of a series that runs monthly through August.

Tickets aren’t a thing — admission is free, and you’ll pay only for what you eat or drink. The organizers say last month’s edition drew more than 20 food vendors; this round promises “25+,” spanning hot meals, drinks, and desserts. Alongside the food, expect two stages of live performances (a lineup that includes Commoner at 4pm, the West Coast Lion Dance Troupe at 5:10pm, and Ms. Marian’s Dance Garden at 7:30pm), a DJ, kid-friendly games, and booths from local artists and community organizations.

If you go: Take Muni lines 1, 29, 38, or 38R — the 38 Geary is your fastest bet from downtown. Street parking in the surrounding Avenues is the move if you drive, but expect it to be tight. The market runs 4–8pm sharp; if you want to catch the lion dance, plan to arrive by 5. Bring cash for vendors, though many likely take cards.
