PetSmart will close its only San Francisco store at 2675 Geary Boulevard on July 19, 2026, citing shifting consumer habits and long-term viability concerns, leaving a large retail vacancy in the City Center corridor.

PetSmart, the nation's largest pet supply retailer, will close its only San Francisco store — at 2675 Geary Boulevard, Suite 150, in the City Center near Masonic Avenue — on July 19, according to a KTVU FOX 2 report by Kayla Galloway published July 11.

According to KTVU, PetSmart said the closure reflects pet owners' "evolving" shopping habits, the location's "long-term viability," and the growth of online ordering. "As more customers choose online ordering, autoship and same-day delivery, we're continuing to adapt how we serve pet parents across the Bay Area," a PetSmart spokesperson said in an email to KTVU.

San Francisco business registration records show Petsmart LLC registered the store — operating as Petsmart #3180 — at that address on March 18, 2021, a roughly five-year run. In addition to retail, the location offered training, grooming, and a dog day camp.

Affected employees will be offered transitional resources and the opportunity to transfer to other Bay Area locations, per KTVU. PetSmart is directing SF customers to its Daly City store, which will expand its online fulfillment capacity after the closure.

The departure leaves a substantial vacancy in the City Center, a commercial strip running along Geary between Masonic and Divisadero. No replacement tenant has been announced.
