Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream is recalling select Outshine fruit-bar boxes in five flavors because some lots may contain glass.
Check the freezer if there are Outshine bars in it: Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream issued a voluntary recall on Sunday, August 16, for certain boxes of the brand’s fruit bars because some lots may contain glass, according to the Walnut Creek-datelined company announcement (external source, opens in a new tab).
The recall covers only specified production lots in five flavors: strawberry, watermelon, grape, tangerine and black cherry. The packages are the supermarket boxes that hold six bars, each 2.5 ounces. Dreyer’s said the recalled lots went to retailers nationwide, so this is not a Bay Area-only shelf problem even though the company is a local food name.
The useful detail is on the package, not the front of the box. CBS News reported (external source, opens in a new tab) that shoppers should look on the bottom for the batch and UPC codes; Dreyer’s list pairs those codes with best-before dates that run from June 30, 2027, through November 30, 2027, depending on the flavor.
No other Outshine varieties are included in the recall, the company said. Dreyer’s is telling consumers who have a matching box to throw it away or take it back to the store where they bought it.
