Thursday, June 18, SF DJ Justin Martin headlines the June edition of Third Thursdays on Mint at Mint Plaza — 5 to 10 p.m., all ages, free. But grab an RSVP at themidwaysf.com/justinmartin before you go; entry requires it.

The venue is Mint Plaza (14 Mint Plaza), the pedestrian square tucked off Market between 5th and Jessie in SoMa, in the shadow of the old U.S. Mint building. It's a compact space by design — when a party here gets rolling, it fills fast, which is exactly why the RSVP matters. The event is presented by The Midway, 620 Jones, and the Northern Nights Music Festival as part of their recurring monthly series. All ages. Powell Street BART (4th & Market) is a three-minute walk; Civic Center BART is seven. Street parking in this corridor on a Thursday evening is not worth counting on.

Thursday's calendar is stacked with options that do cost money: Cal Academy's NightLife Renaissance Faire is ticketed (and 21+), SFMOMA's Joie de Vivre evening runs ticketed, the Juneteenth MoAD Mix at MoAD runs 6 to 9 p.m. with tickets. Martin's outdoor set is the free, all-ages anchor on a busy pre-Juneteenth night downtown.

If you have two hours: RSVP now, get to the plaza by 5:30, let the set find its groove, then walk to dinner along Market or into Hayes Valley.
