The San Jose Fire Department fought it as a first-alarm fire. NBC Bay Area and Hoodline both reported that crews knocked down a one-alarm fire at the restaurant; Hoodline placed it on Moorpark Avenue, the same address KRON4 gave. KRON4, citing the department, went further, describing a "massive" fire that destroyed the building.

The timeline traces to SJFD figures relayed by KRON4: crews dispatched at 5:15 a.m. and had the fire knocked down by roughly 6:31 a.m. — a little over an hour on a fully involved restaurant while most of the block was still dark. The department has not stated a cause, and there was no word on injuries.

Moorpark Avenue runs through West San Jose near the Santa Clara border, a stretch of drive-throughs, strip-mall storefronts and car lots along the Interstate 880 corridor; this Burger King sat among them. Whether the chain rebuilds on the site or writes it off is the next question, and one the company has not answered.
