The 30-seat farm-estate tasting room at 139 East Napa Street earned two stars in its first year of Michelin eligibility and three at the June 24 ceremony — completing one of the fastest climbs in the guide's California history.

Brian Limoges spent the better part of a decade working inside rooms that collect three Michelin stars — Atelier Crenn when it held two, Quince when it climbed to three in 2017, Birdsong when it opened and earned one in its first year. On June 24 in San Diego, Limoges got his own.

Enclos, the 30-seat tasting menu restaurant Limoges leads inside a restored Victorian house at 139 East Napa Street in downtown Sonoma, was awarded three Michelin stars at the 2026 Michelin Guide California ceremony, completing a rise from zero to the guide's highest tier in two cycles. The restaurant also received a Michelin Green Star, the guide's sustainability designation.

Enclos opened in 2024 as an extension of Stone Edge Farm Estate Vineyards & Winery, owned by Mac and Leslie McQuown. Mac McQuown died in October 2024 shortly before service began. The farm's 16-acre organic gardens, just north of downtown Sonoma, supply the kitchen directly; the restaurant pours exclusively Stone Edge Farm wines alongside an old- and new-world bottle list. The room holds a beer-and-wine license only — no full bar.

Michelin inspectors cited "global flavors, refined technique and exceptional ingredients" and called the room a "custom-designed domain" of the chef. The 10-course tasting menu leans heavily on Sonoma Valley produce and references Limoges's New England upbringing — he grew up in rural New Hampshire and graduated from the New England Culinary Institute before arriving in San Francisco in 2013 as sous chef at Atelier Crenn, then two-starred.

His CV from there is a tour of Bay Area Michelin kitchens. He joined Quince as executive sous chef and was part of the team that earned it three stars in 2017. He then helped open Birdsong as chef de cuisine — a Michelin star in its first year. After a stint with Simon Rogan's Henrock in northern England, he served as corporate chef for the Saison Restaurant Group, overseeing both Angler and Saison in San Francisco, before landing at Enclos.

The room earned two stars in its first year of Michelin eligibility. It now holds three.

The restaurant seats 30 and is open Wednesday through Saturday; groups larger than six require a full buyout. "This honor starts with our ownership from the McQuowns," Limoges said after Wednesday's announcement, per the Press Democrat. "We look forward to welcoming more guests to discover Enclos and the bounty of Sonoma."

Enclos joins Californios — which at the same June 24 ceremony became the first Mexican restaurant in the world to earn three Michelin stars — in bringing the Bay Area's top-tier Michelin count to seven.
