The honest board note first: I went looking for the local college-football grief machine and it had already been written this week. Cal-UCLA was too close to yesterday’s Cal number. Oregon-Boise had already gotten its memory-piece treatment. The 49ers in Australia had already been filed as a travel story before a betting story. So I’m not pretending the room needs another essay about the map being broken just because I want to be sad in public.
The one live Saturday number I’ll put on the sheet is Clemson-LSU under 50.5 (-108, LowVig.ag), 0.25u.
This is not a full chest-out model play. The CFB matchup layer I wanted was unavailable, so the stake stays small and the argument stays clean: early September, two brand-name programs, a market sitting at 50.5 across the board, and a game where I would rather make both offenses prove timing than pay retail for scripted confidence. If Clemson is catching double digits in Death Valley South, the cleaner path to an actual sweat is LSU controlling field position and Clemson making this ugly enough to hang around, not both teams trading explosives for four quarters.
I’m also coming off a choppy little baseball ledger, so this is not the night to cosplay as a man with a spreadsheet tattooed on his ribs. It is a quarter-unit under, written down before kickoff, with the possibility that one busted coverage ruins my whole 7:52 p.m. personality. That is the business.
Sal is 27-35 (+0.4u YTD).
