Chicano Nuevo’s own site now points diners to reservations at 3355 Mission Street, while San Francisco’s business record shows the DBA dates to 2019 and the current Bernal location to 2022.
Chicano Nuevo now points diners to reservations at 3355 Mission Street in Bernal Heights, but the public file behind the room shows a much longer build than a reservation button can carry. The restaurant’s official site lists the Mission Street address and a reservation link (external source, opens in a new tab), while the same page still tells supporters, “Help us open,” and says the project is “almost at the finish line.”
The city record gives that lag a shape. San Francisco registered-business data (external source, opens in a new tab) lists Chicano Nuevo as a DBA of Nuevo Industry Group LLC, certificate number 1106201, with a DBA start date of Feb. 27, 2019. The current location in the same record is 3355 Mission St., with a location start date of Dec. 10, 2022. The city file identifies the corridor as Mission Street and places the address in the Bernal Heights analysis boundary.
That is the useful restaurant math here: more than three years between the DBA start and the current address entering the city file, then another long stretch before the public-facing site pointed ordinary diners toward the room. The site does not state a current seat count, and it does not publish a menu price on the page captured in this revision. It does, however, show the fundraising layer in plain view: $200 for a shirt and pre-opening dinner invitation, $500 for a shirt, hoodie and dinner invitation, and $1,000 for those perks plus a custom tile intended for the restaurant walls.
The page also names Erik Marinovich as lead art director and design consultant, and refers to “chef Abraham” in its description of Marinovich’s relationship to the project. Put together, the site and the city file make the business story clearer than the splashier opening language does: Chicano Nuevo is not just a new booking link on Mission Street. It is a small restaurant project whose paper trail starts in 2019, whose Bernal room enters the file in 2022, and whose own site still shows the cost of getting the doors open.
