What, when, where: A free indie nail polish swap and de-stash runs Saturday, Aug. 15, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Ghirardelli Chess and Card Tables in Golden Gate Park, at the park's east end. The organizer, who goes by jenmoocat, is billing it as "Another Nail Polish Swap/De-stash" — round two after a June meetup. It's free; you RSVP through a Partiful page to get in and see the exact location pin.

Call it a swap, but it runs more like a give-away. At June's version, roughly ten people laid more than 100 bottles out on the tables for anyone to take, with a lot of swatching, trying-on, and a few demos on pulling off magnetic polish effects. Whatever nobody claimed got donated to the Tenderloin Toiletries project — same plan this time.

The ask is specific: bring gently used indie, boutique, or salon-grade polishes — the organizer name-checks Mooncat, ILNP, Cracked, LynB, Cirque, and Cupcake — and only bottles that are at least 80% full, not dried out, not thinned, well-mixed. One or two orphans is fine; you don't need a full drawer. If you want to test colors on your nails, pack your own remover and cotton pads, and clean up after yourself — this is a public park, not a salon.

The move: It's the eastern end of the park, so the Haight/Stanyan gate is your closest way in; JFK Promenade is car-free, so don't plan on driving to the door. RSVP early — access to the guest list and the pin is gated behind Partiful, and two hours goes fast once the swatching starts.
