MALLORAMA — a late-night rave billed as a "takeover" of Eastridge Center's Center Court, 2200 Eastridge Loop, San Jose 95122 — runs Saturday, Sept. 5, from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Organizers promise a full stage, club-grade sound and lighting, and a "secret lineup of heavy hitters" they have not yet named.

The pairing is the story here. This is a co-production of Brownies & Lemonade, the LA promoter that has run stages at Coachella, EDC and Lollapalooza, and San Jose Foos, the local brand that has spent years agitating to "activate a space that needs attention," as founder Jorge Anthony Gómez told Telemundo. Throwing a proper rave inside a working mall — not a warehouse, not a fairground — is the kind of odd, site-specific idea that either becomes a legend or a cautionary tale. Organizers say they've lined up private security, medical teams and coordination with San José police.

The event is billed as 21+ by the organizers' media partners, so bring ID. Insider notes: Eastridge sits off Capitol Expressway with a massive free parking lot and the Eastridge Transit Center at its doorstep.
