Two free events are stacking up at Yerba Buena Gardens as part of the 2026 Gardens Festival series. First, CMC Older Adults Choirs perform on the outdoor stage — check the festival calendar at ybgf.org for the exact set time, as the Gardens typically runs performances starting around noon on weekdays and Saturdays. Second, Rhythm & Motion brings their Dance Outdoors class to the lawn — an instructor-led session open to all levels, no registration required. Both are free. The Gardens sit at 750 Howard St, SoMa. Nearest BART is Powell Street (about a five-minute walk) or Montgomery Street (closer to seven). No parking lot on site — the 5th and Mission garage is your best option if you're driving.

The Gardens Festival has been running free outdoor programming here since 1993, and what keeps it functional rather than forgettable is the site itself: the upper lawn is shaded by trees on the east side by early afternoon, and the stage sightlines are clean from most of the grass. The Dance Outdoors series specifically has a following among people who want to move without committing to a studio — Rhythm & Motion is a real SF institution, not a one-off promotional thing.

If you have two hours: catch the choir set from the lawn with a sandwich from the Whole Foods on 4th Street two blocks away, then stay for the dance session if your legs are willing.
