Also Wednesdays: RNB Wednesdays at the Timbri Hotel brings a DJ into what is otherwise a hotel bar situation — which means better sound than you'd expect and a crowd that's actually there to dance rather than just sit on their phones. Check Timbri's social for the exact start time, as doors and DJ sets have shifted week to week. Located in SoMa; Civic Center BART is your best bet.

What's worth noting: Rye has been running this promotion long enough that it has regulars, which means the bartenders are fast and the room isn't confused about what it is. Timbri is newer to this format, so the crowd size varies more — earlier can mean quieter, later can mean packed.
