Saturday and Sunday, June 6–7, 11am–7pm, the Union Street Festival closes six blocks of Cow Hollow — Union Street from Fillmore to Gough — for its 48th edition. Free to walk in. It's one of the longest-running street festivals in the city, presented by Sunset Mercantile with the Union Street Association, and it runs both days.

Expect food vendors from across the Bay Area, a long row of handcrafted-goods sellers, craft brews from local breweries, cocktails and mocktails, live screen printing with San FranPsycho, and free music and dance on the stages. It's all ages and dogs on leash are fine.

The thing that sets this one apart from a generic street fair is the Union Street Waiters Race — restaurant and bar teams sprint a relay uphill while balancing trays of drinks, a neighborhood tradition that draws a crowd. It runs Sunday, June 7 at noon, so if that's what you're coming for, plan around midday on day two.

Practical notes: there's no event parking and Cow Hollow street parking is brutal, especially with six blocks closed. There's no BART stop near here — take Muni (the 22, 28, 30, 43, or 45 all serve the area) or rideshare and skip the circling. If you are crossing the bay, note that BART is single-tracking through the Transbay Tube all day Sunday for lighting work, so build in extra time Sunday.

If you've only got two hours: come Sunday before noon, eat your way down a couple of blocks, grab a local pour, and post up on Union near the start line for the Waiters Race at 12.
