On select weekday lunchtimes, Thrive City — the plaza outside Chase Center at 3rd and 16th in Mission Bay — runs a free Live Music Lunch Series, with local acts performing from roughly noon to 1pm. Separately, when the UEFA Champions League Final airs, Thrive City hosts Splash, an official watch party on the plaza with big screens, food and drink vendors, and what the venue bills as a festival atmosphere. Check SFFuncheap and the Chase Center events calendar for exact dates and set times, as both programs update close to game and show day. Both events are free to enter the plaza; food and drinks cost extra.

The lunch series is the lower-key of the two — something to know about if you're already in the neighborhood rather than a destination trip. The Champions League Final watch party is a bigger swing: outdoor stadium-adjacent screens, a crowd that actually cares about the match, and the Chase Center infrastructure (restrooms, sightlines, security) without the ticket price. That's the differentiator from watching at a bar.

Mission Bay is underserved by BART. The closest stop is Mission Bay on the T-Third Muni line, which runs from the Embarcadero. Don't drive unless you have a plan — Chase Center event parking fills and prices spike. The Uber/Lyft drop zone on 16th Street moves fast.

If you've got two hours for the watch party, get there 20 minutes before kickoff to claim a spot with a clean sightline to a screen, grab food before the match starts, and plan your exit before the final whistle — the Muni platform gets backed up immediately after.
