The former Grace Evangelical Free Church at 4114 Judah Street in the Outer Sunset has transformed into Sunset Village, a temporary multi-purpose space with shops and a music venue, as its new owners plan long-term market-rate housing, reflecting the evolving texture of the neighborhood.
On the 4100 block of Judah Street in San Francisco's Outer Sunset, what was once the Grace Evangelical Free Church of San Francisco is now a buzzing multi-purpose space called Sunset Village, heralding a temporary but vibrant transition for the corner at 46th Avenue. This interim activation comes as the property's new owner, Houston-based Urban Meridian Group, lays groundwork for a longer-term vision of market-rate housing with ground-floor retail.
The 8,250-square-foot site at 4114 Judah Street changed hands in January 2026 for approximately $3.5 million. Avi Ron, founder of Urban Meridian Group, acquired the property, which is now registered under the business name "Relax Harder LLC" as of May 22, 2026. The developer's stated plan is to build market-rate housing on the site within roughly three years, a move facilitated by San Francisco's December 2025 upzoning plan, which increased height limits in the area.
In the meantime, the building has been repurposed into Sunset Village, hosting a curated consignment shop, Sunset Variety, set to open in August, an unnamed flower shop, and the Sunset Village Music Hall. The Music Hall held a pre-opening event on July 4, with a formal permit hearing for live performances anticipated. This activation is deliberate, according to Thomas Kerbleski, a consultant for Urban Meridian Group and an Outer Sunset resident. Kerbleski noted the reluctance of developers in San Francisco, stating, "It took a while to find the right buyer… At the time, San Francisco developers were very scared. They didn't want to spend any money." Filling the space with small businesses is a way to activate the block until long-term construction begins.
While the new activity brings life to the corner, specific building permits related to these temporary tenant improvements or operational licenses for the individual businesses at 4114 Judah Street were not readily available in public city data. DataSF records show no eviction notices filed in the Outer Sunset in the past 90 days and no 311 service requests in the past seven days.
The presence of Sunset Village marks a clear shift for the block, trading a long-standing church for a dynamic, albeit temporary, commercial hub. Passersby can already see the new awnings and signs of these burgeoning businesses, inhabiting a space with an eye toward a dramatically different future.
