This isn't a stage-and-speaker format. The dancing is participatory in stretches, the drumming is live throughout, and the food vendors are Indigenous-owned, which makes this a different experience than a standard cultural fair. Tunnel Tops itself is a relatively new park — opened 2022 — sitting above the tunnel connecting the Presidio to the waterfront, with clear sightlines to the Bay. The setting is worth the trip on its own, but the programming gives it a reason.

Practical notes: the PresidiGo shuttle runs from the Transbay Transit Center and the Downtown SF stops on weekends — skip driving entirely, because Presidio parking is legitimately painful on event days. No BART drops you at the gate, but the shuttle is free. Dress in layers; the marine layer hangs over that ridgeline later in the afternoon even in summer. Dogs on leash are allowed on the grounds.

If you've got two hours, arrive when the drums start, work through the food vendors first while the crowd is light, then position yourself near the dance circle for the main sets.
