Odoo Experience Americas runs Sept 2–3 at Pier 27 with a genuinely free entry tier — the talks and floor cost nothing, but the food, open bar, and evening concerts don't. Here's what "free" actually buys you.

Odoo Experience Americas 2026 lands at Pier 27 on the Embarcadero on Wednesday and Thursday, September 2–3, and the headline detail is the one worth pinning down before you get excited: yes, entry is free — but "free" has a fence around it.

The two-day conference is run by Odoo (external source, opens in a new tab), the Belgian open-source business-software company, and it made the rounds on the r/bayarea subreddit this week as a no-cost way to meet people in the industry. That's true as far as it goes. It's also, underneath, a vendor conference — the free pass is the front door to a floor of 50-plus exhibitors and a product launch (Odoo 20). Fine. The reason a general Bay Area tech person might actually block off a day is the speaker list.

The draw. Per the official program (external source, opens in a new tab), the featured speakers are Kara Swisher (host of On with Kara Swisher), Scott Galloway (the NYU Stern professor behind The Prof G Pod), and Jacob Goldstein (formerly of NPR's Planet Money). Three genuinely marquee media names, plus 100-plus talks across two days and a handful of "mystery guests" still unannounced. For a $0 ticket, that's a real lineup — the kind you'd normally pay a festival price to see in one room.

What "free" actually buys you. The Standard Pass is $0 and covers all conference talks, the exhibition areas, and the workshops — sales on it run right up to 2 p.m. on Sept 3, so there's no lottery or early cutoff. What it does not include: lunch, the VIP dinner, the open bar, and the evening concerts (with the in-house Odoo Band). Those live behind the $200 two-day Premium Pass. Single-day lunch add-ons are $40. The technical masterclasses — accounting, manufacturing, inventory, an "Odoo x AI" track — are their own animal at $1,000, Premium pass included. So the honest read: the talks and the floor are free; the food and the party are not.

Getting there. Pier 27 is the cruise terminal on the Embarcadero, north of the Ferry Building. It's a walk from Embarcadero BART/Muni (budget 15–20 minutes up the waterfront), or take the F-line historic streetcar straight up the Embarcadero and get off near Pier 27. Driving is the weak option — cruise-terminal parking is limited and pricey, and this is one of the easier corners of the city to reach without a car. No age restriction is listed for the free pass; register online and bring the QR code.

If you've only got a couple of hours: grab the free Standard Pass, skip the masterclass math entirely, and time your visit around whichever of Swisher, Galloway, or Goldstein is on stage — the agenda posts talk times as it fills in. Do a loop of the exhibitor floor before or after, and leave the $200 open-bar evening for people expensing it.
