Mosswood Meltdown returns to Mosswood Park on July 18 with Iggy Pop headlining at 8:15 p.m., John Waters hosting for his 12th year, and a Saturday card that also includes Otoboke Beaver, Mannequin Pussy, Snooper, and The Dirtbombs. Saturday GA starts at $129.
Mosswood Meltdown returns to Mosswood Park, 3612 Webster St. in Oakland, on Saturday, July 18 — a two-day punk festival that KQED called its most impressive lineup yet — with Iggy Pop headlining at 8:15 p.m. (per the r/oakland weekly shows community thread; set times are not yet posted on the festival's official site). Saturday-only general admission starts at $129 (Tier 1), $149 (Tier 2), or $169 (Tier 3) — the festival's own site is explicit that there is no difference in access between tiers, only price. VIP runs $199–$275. Tickets are live at mosswoodmeltdown.com. MacArthur BART is about a 10-minute walk; street parking near the park on a festival Saturday will be competitive.
The rest of the Saturday card earns its place. Otoboke Beaver, the Kyoto noise-punk quartet, shares billing with Mannequin Pussy, The Spits, Snooper, The Dirtbombs, The Drags, The Fadeaways, and Primitive Ring. Filmmaker John Waters presides as host — his 12th year in the role, per the festival's site — and writes individual introductions for every act on the bill. He told Billboard: "It's a large writing job, because I have to introduce like 20 groups or something, so I try to make it different every year." His preview on the official site: "a line up of lunatic acts that will make even the angriest punk-rocker pogo their way to paradise with a twisted smile on their dirty little faces."
If you want both days, a GA weekend pass (July 18–19) starts at $179 at mosswoodmeltdown.com.
The r/oakland weekly shows thread, compiled by /u/zivv-bayarea, notes The Dirtbombs are also playing the Stork Club later that night — with The Husbands and DJ Pete Slovenly — for $31.96. A solid late-night extension after the park closes.
The buy: Tier 1 is $40 less than Tier 3 for identical access per the official site — no reason to pay more. Grab it before the tier sells through. Aim to be inside by 7:30 p.m. to catch acts before the Iggy Pop rush. Pop goes at 8:15.
