The North Beach roaster claims 90 years at the same address. San Francisco's Treasurer and Tax Collector records show a new filing dated August 1, 2024 — and the record doesn't say why.
The San Francisco Office of the Treasurer and Tax Collector lists Graffeo Coffee Roasting Company Inc. at 735 Columbus Ave under location number 1367529-08-241, account number 1160938, with an effective registration date of August 1, 2024. The record does not state a reason for the new filing.
That date sits at some distance from what the company says about itself. On its own contact page, Graffeo Coffee states it has been "roasting beans daily in the same Columbus Avenue storefront where it all began in 1935" — nine decades at the same North Beach address. The 2024 city registration does not necessarily contradict that; re-registrations can follow ownership transitions, corporate reorganizations, or administrative corrections. The public record does not resolve which.
Whatever changed or didn't, the business is active. San Francisco Department of Public Health records show an inspection at 735 Columbus on February 6, 2025, with Reza Beikzadeh listed as the certified food manager on the current permit. Luciano Repetto appears as owner in state employment records; Walter Haas is named CEO in a 2016-17 city labor filing. Their current relationship is not clarified in publicly available documents.
The shop resurfaced this week in a thread on r/AskSF, where user u/harad wrote that it took them "over 20 years to pop into Graffeo" before it became their exclusive source for beans. It's a familiar North Beach dynamic: a roaster at the same address since before the war, registered anew in the city's books last summer, still drawing a line when the door opens.
What shifted in August 2024 — if anything shifted at all — is not in the public record.
