Generacion Suicida, the East LA Chicano punk band, opens a July tour at Oakland's Thee Stork Club on the Fourth — $15–$18, 21+, 8 p.m. The Stork Club also has strong bills Thursday and Friday if you want the whole weekend.

East LA Chicano punk outfit Generacion Suicida headlines Thee Stork Club on Saturday, July 4, with local support from False Figure and Big. Show at 8 p.m., 21+, $15–$18. Thee Stork Club, 2330 Telegraph Ave, Oakland. Nearest BART: 19th Street Oakland, about a 10-minute walk south on Telegraph.

Generacion Suicida has been one of the steadier acts in the West Coast Chicano punk underground for the better part of 15 years — bilingual, raw, in a lineage that connects East LA's Plugz to Chicago's Los Crudos. They're currently kicking off a July tour that swings east to Michigan (Jul 12) and Ohio (Jul 13), which means Oakland gets the first night — typically the sharpest show of a run, before travel wears everyone down.

The Stork Club is running a full stretch through the long weekend. Tonight, Monday Jun 29: Hook-Ups, 2070, and support at 8 p.m. ($12–$15). Thursday, Jul 2: Moth Morgue, 555, mars kumari, and Copeathetic at 8 p.m. ($10–$12). Friday, Jul 3: Queer Club Classics with DJ Louie El Ser at 9 p.m. ($5 — best deal of the run). Then Generacion Suicida Saturday.

Get there by 8. Tour-opener shows don't drag. Tickets at theestorkclub.com.
