Butano doesn't get the weekend crush that Muir Woods or Point Reyes pull — the drive is longer and the name recognition is lower, which means actual parking on a Saturday morning. The park has about 21 miles of trail ranging from flat creek-side walking to ridge loops with ocean views. Gazos Creek itself runs year-round and is accessible from the Gazos Creek Coastal Access area off Highway 1, which is a separate, free stop worth pairing with the park if you want creek-level bloom without the entry fee.
Practical note: cell service drops out on Cloverdale Road. Download the AllTrails map or the paper trail guide from the California State Parks site before you leave. The Pescadero Marsh is five minutes north on Highway 1 and worth a 20-minute stop for shorebirds on the way back.
With two hours, I'd take the Olmo Fire Road to the Doe Ridge Trail loop — it's under four miles, gets you the ridge view, and puts you back at the lot before the afternoon fog rolls in.
