For those unfamiliar, the Mabuhay (or "the Mab" if you're being appropriately casual about it) is one of San Francisco's most storied music venues — a place that's survived decades of the city's best efforts to regulate fun out of existence. The fact that it's still kicking, still hosting weird, wonderful, dark-corner-of-the-culture events, is a minor miracle in a city where permit costs and noise complaints have shuttered countless venues over the years.

Here's what we love about this: it's free. No $45 ticket fee. No $18 cocktail minimum. Just show up, dress in black (or don't, we're libertarians about dress codes too), and participate in actual culture.
