The coastside arts community skews toward painters, ceramicists, and sculptors working with the marine environment, so you'll see material and subject matter you won't find in a Mission pop-up. The studio map usually covers spots scattered across town and into the hills, so picking a cluster in advance saves backtracking.

Practical note: parking near the main drag on Main Street fills up on sunny weekends. Come before noon or use the lot off Kelly Avenue. Bring cash if you're tempted to buy — not every studio has a card reader.

If you've got two hours: grab the studio map online before you leave, identify three studios within a few blocks of each other, and walk that cluster. You'll see more and talk longer than if you try to drive the full loop.
