The San Francisco Giants are a mess right now, and tonight's matchup against the Toronto Blue Jays looks to be another rough outing for the Bay Area nine. Landen Roupp (5-8, 4.55 ERA) takes the mound for the Giants tonight, and his recent form is alarming.
Roupp is seeking his first win since April 26th, having gone 0-7 with a 5.87 ERA over his last 11 starts. Over his last seven starts, it's even worse: 0-4 with a 6.62 ERA. The Giants are 5-12 against the spread in his starts this season, and 4-7 as moneyline underdogs. It's hard to have confidence in a pitcher struggling that badly, especially when his team is already limping at 37-52 on the season.
Compounding the Giants' troubles is a severely depleted pitching staff, with key arms like Max Scherzer and Keaton Winn on the IL, alongside a host of relievers. The bullpen has been working overtime, which means even if Roupp manages to keep it close early, the backend relief could be shaky.
On the other side, the Toronto Blue Jays roll into Oracle Park with Kevin Gausman (4-7, 4.19 ERA) on the hill. While his season ERA isn't sparkling, Gausman has a strong career track record against the Giants, boasting a 3.13 ERA in four career starts against them, with 30 strikeouts in 23 innings. He knows how to pitch in this park and against this lineup.
While the Blue Jays have their own injury concerns with Matt Chapman and Lenyn Sosa out, their pitching injuries seem less critical in this specific matchup, and they get George Springer back in the lineup.
This is a clear spot to fade a struggling Giants team with a red-hot bad starting pitcher against a guy who historically dominates them. The line is tight, but there's value here. It will settle off the live scoreboard, as there is no Kalshi market for the game.
Sal is 16-12 (+3.6u YTD).
