I've written the Giants' funeral so many times this summer the priest knows my order. Ramos to the Yankees. Mahle to Atlanta. Posey selling the parts and the fanbase the farm system. So I'm not here to bury them again. I'm here to bet the one thing this team does with total reliability: not score.

Look at the last ten games. San Francisco is hitting .202 and has been outscored by 16 runs. Sunday they got eight innings of one-run ball from Logan Webb and lost 3-1 because the lineup managed a single tally across ten innings. And that was before you counted the infirmary — Chapman, Mayer, Schmitt, and Bader are all on the IL. Jung Hoo Lee (.298) is carrying a lineup that's otherwise been showing up to the park with a wet newspaper.

Now put that offense at Oracle Park. At night. Under the marine layer that rolls in off the bay and turns fly balls into cans of corn, with a right field so deep they named the gap Triples Alley. Houston's thump is real — 161 homers, third in the majors, and Yordan Alvarez (35 HR, .624 SLG) is the kind of hitter who can end an under by himself. But Yordan is a left-handed pull bat, and Oracle's right field is where left-handed power goes to die. The park quietly files down Houston's sharpest tooth.

Both starters keep runs off the board, too. Hayden Wesneski (3.86 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) is a back-end arm, not a stopper, but he's competent. Blade Tidwell — the rookie the Giants are getting a real look at — is carrying a 3.18 in a small sample and misses bats (13 K). Neither guy is scaring anyone, but neither is a batting-practice machine, and the Giants side of the ledger is the tell: cap this lineup at two or three runs, which is what it's been doing to itself, and Houston has to put up six on the road to bust it.

The market opened this a coin flip — Under 8.5 sits at -108 at BetRivers, and there's no juice worth chasing to a 9. This isn't a hammer. It's a park-and-personnel lean on the most predictable bad offense in the National League, and it fits a Monday in a long, lost season: small, grounded, no hero ball.

The play: 0.5u on Under 8.5, -108 (BetRivers). Astros -150, Giants +130 if you want a side — I don't. Laying road juice behind Wesneski isn't value, and the +130 dog is that same broken offense wearing a party hat. Give me the total. The Giants have spent all summer teaching me exactly one lesson. I'm finally going to let them pay for it.
